  • White lung syndrome is becoming a growing health concern among children, raising alarms about respiratory infections.

  • It is a respiratory infection caused by multiple microorganisms, leading to the development of pneumonia.
  • Coined to describe a mysterious respiratory illness primarily seen among patients in China with pneumonia-like symptoms.
  • Caused by a combination of various respiratory illnesses, including influenza, SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19), Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and mycoplasma pneumoniae.
  • Symptoms: Formation of white patches in the lungs and include infection, fever, cough, sore throat, watery eyes, skin rash, or symptoms like diarrhea.
  • Treatment includes managing infection, reducing fever, and alleviating associated symptoms.
