• The scheme is designed to catalyse industrial development and employment generation in the states of the Northeast Region of India.
• It aims to create gainful employment opportunities, leading to the overall socio-economic advancement and productive economic activities in both the manufacturing and service sectors.
• UNNATI operates over a span of 10 years, with 8 years of committed liabilities, ensuring sustained support for industrial growth and employment generation.
• All new industrial units and expanding units are eligible to benefit from the scheme, encouraging both the establishment of new ventures and the expansion of existing ones.
• Each unit can receive a maximum benefit of up to Rs. 250 Crore from all components of the scheme, providing substantial support for industrial development.
• Green industries such as EV charging stations are included in the positive list, while industries with potential environmental impacts like cement and plastic are placed in the negative list.
• Districts are categorized into two zones: Zone A comprises industrially advanced districts, while Zone B consists of industrially backward districts, ensuring tailored support for different regions.
• Scheme Parts: Part A focuses on providing incentives for eligible units to facilitate their growth and development. Part B is dedicated to the implementation and institutional arrangements necessary for the successful execution of the scheme.
• Sixty percent of the outlay of Part A is earmarked for the 8 Northeastern states, ensuring a targeted approach towards the region’s development. The remaining 40% is allocated on a First-In First-Out basis, optimizing resource utilization.
• The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) spearheads the implementation of UNNATI in collaboration with the concerned states, ensuring effective execution and monitoring.
