• Developed in the 1970s, the Miyawaki Plantation Method is named after Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki.
• The primary objective of this method is to establish urban dense forests within small areas, focusing on creating a dense canopy layer of tall trees even in limited spaces.
• The method involves a unique approach to planting. Native trees, shrubs, and groundcover plants are densely planted at a rate of one per square meter.
• The arrangement is carefully curated, incorporating fast-growing, dense, and varied species of plants. This results in a thriving ecosystem that grows at a remarkable pace, approximately 20 times faster than traditional methods.
• Chosen plant species are specifically selected for their ability to survive in harsh weather conditions and adapt to water-scarce environments.
• The rapid growth of these species under existing conditions allows for the creation of thick pockets of green cover within a relatively short period.
