Sudarshan Setu: India’s Longest Cable-Stayed Bridge


Why is it in the news?

  • Prime Minister Modi inaugurated ‘Sudarshan Setu,’ the nation’s longest cable-stayed bridge over the Arabian Sea.

About Sudarshan Setu

  • It connects Beyt Dwarka island to mainland Okha in Gujarat’s Devbhumi Dwarka district. The bridge spans 2.32 km in total.
  • It includes a 900-meter central double-span cable-stayed portion along with a 2.45 km long approach road.

Beyt Dwarka

  • An island near Okha port, approximately 30 km from Dwarka town, known for the Dwarkadhish temple of Lord Krishna.
  • Prior to the construction of Sudarshan Setu, pilgrims had to rely on boat transport to reach Beyt Dwarka.
