• The last edition of Gagan Shakti took place in 2018. During this exercise, the IAF completed over 11,000 sorties across two phases of air manoeuvres.
• Gagan Shakti aims to demonstrate the IAF’s capability to conduct high-tempo operations effectively. It involves the utilization of all air bases and assets scattered throughout the country.
• Gagan Shakti-2024 is being conducted at various locations across India, including the Pokhran Field Firing Range in Jaisalmer.
• The Indian Army plays a role in providing logistical support for the exercise. This involves facilitating the comprehensive movement of IAF personnel and ammunition across the country. It also validates the Operational Rail Mobilisation Plan (ORMP) aspects of the IAF.
