Why is it in the news?

• Tiger Triumph, the India-U.S. tri-Service Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) exercise, began and will run until March 31.

• The exercise aims to develop interoperability for conducting HADR operations and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for smooth coordination between the forces of both countries.
• It involves both a Harbour Phase and a Sea Phase.
• Harbour Phase: During this phase, personnel from both navies will participate in various activities including training visits; subject matter expert exchanges; sports events; and social interactions.
• Sea Phase: Activities during this phase will include maritime, amphibious, and HADR operations in accordance with injected situations.
