About Mpox
- Monkeypox is a zoonotic disease caused by the monkeypox virus, first identified in 1971 in central Africa.
- Infected individuals develop a rash resembling chickenpox, with transmission occurring through direct contact with infected animals’ blood, bodily fluids, or lesions.
- There is currently no specific cure for monkeypox, although antiviral medications can help reduce its severity.
