- The initial implementation of the Nari Adalat component will take place in the state of Assam and the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
- Mission Shakti is an initiative by the Ministry of Women and Child Development designed to enhance efforts in ensuring the safety, security, and empowerment of women.
- The primary objective is to fulfil the government’s pledge to foster “women-led development.” This involves addressing issues affecting women on a life-cycle continuum basis and actively involving them as equal contributors to nation-building.
- The strategy is built on the principles of convergence and encouraging citizen ownership.
- The total approved outlay for Mission Shakti during the 15th Finance Commission period is Rs. 20,989 crores. This includes a Central Share of Rs. 15,761 crore and a State Share of Rs. 5,228 crores.
Sub-schemes
- Sambal: Focuses on the safety and security of women; Includes components from previous schemes like One Stop Centre (OSC), Women Helpline (WHL), Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), along with the new component of Nari Adalats.
- Samarthya: Aims at the empowerment of women; Comprises components like Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), Palna, Shakti Sadan, Sakhi Niwas, and the Hub for Empowerment of Women.
