Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)

Why is it in the news?

  • AGI refers to machine intelligence enabling comprehension, learning, and performance of intellectual tasks similar to humans, with the capacity for generalization and adaptation across diverse domains.
Aspect Narrow AI AGI
Learning Ability Focuses on a single task with constraints. Envisioned to generalize and adapt across diverse domains.
Operational Domain Relies on fixed domain models provided by programmers. Self-learns and reasons within its operating environment.
Data Processing Utilizes technologies like Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning, and Artificial Neural Networks for data analysis. Employs advanced versions of these technologies for comprehensive analysis.
Limitations Limited to a single task, lacks broader intelligence. May Lack depth in certain areas and raises ethical concerns.
Examples Virtual assistants, spam filters, image recognition tools. Self-driving cars, advanced chatbots.
Difference Simulates human behaviour based on predefined rules and parameters. Mimics human intelligence, possesses the ability to learn and apply intelligence to solve any problem.
